Problem

Building a Binding of Isaac item catalog usually ends in wiki scrapes or secrets shipped to the client.

Decision

I split an authenticated FastAPI service, with PostgreSQL, Redis and Clerk API keys, from an Astro site that documents the contract and proxies requests. Ingestion publishes a versioned JSON snapshot. The runtime never contacts Platinum God.

Challenge

Keeping the /v1 contract stable, invalidating Redis by generation, and keeping the API key out of the bundle while the playground still hits live data.

Result

Any frontend can query the item catalog with an API key, without scraping wikis or shipping secrets to the client; the docs include a live example with real data.
